Digital Age Photography
I’m a photographer from the digital age! I know nothing about dark room techniques and could never get the hang of exposure until I could see the back of the camera. I’m a bit of a techie having an IT background. This gives me the edge in post camera processing but means that I have had to work hard on the creative side of photography.
I enjoy the great outdoors and favour wildlife photography but am equally happy with landscape and will occasionally try my hand at new genre. But don’t ask me to do weddings!!
My interest in photography comes from many trips to the African continent and my desire to capture an image that could do justice to the amazing wildlife I have been fortunate to see. When I semi-retired in 2005 I started to get serious about my photography as I had more time to enjoy a hobby I was passionate about. The problem is that the more photography I did the more I wanted to do! By 2010 I was spending at least three months of the year away from home on trips that have taken me to some amazing places. The cameras more expensive, the lens bigger. Do you know what i mean? I think a lot of photographers have the disease and I’m not sure I know the cure.
I have had varied successes with several medals and ribbons in international competitions and a win of €200 in a German International.
Finally, I enjoy training and throughout my career I have had great pleasure in instilling knowledge into enthusiastic people. No question is stupid and I will do my best to help people on their photography journey.
